Happy birthday to my big sister and fellow blogger, Cammie. Today’s post is the birthday card I made her using the new Smooches DSP. Smooches DSP and other embellishments in the Stampin Up Smooches product line are available as a sneak peek through 30 April and then not available until June 1st when the new Stampin Up catalog debut’s. Card is simple but oh so cute. Have a great birthday sistah!
Monthly Archives: April 2012
Sorry folks last week when I posted the retiring stamps from Stampin Up I provided a link to the “super secret” demo only site so today I am posting the list of retiring stamps.
RetiredStamps_0412_en-US Lots of stamps are going away but that means they are making room for new ones coming on June 1 2012 when the new Stampin Up catalog goes live. Look at the list and check it twice because these stamps won’t be available past 31 May.
On April 25th the list of retiring accessories (everything that is not a stamp) will be announced so watch for that soon.
Continuing with the scraps of Everyday enchantment DSP I made this card for my card cafe and it was definately one that people liked. I plan to switch out the papers and make it again. Most of my card cafe attendees thought this was a layered birthday cake rather than a stack of presents which I thought was super funny. I cut strips of paper and stacked them then added and curled the ribbon. Added the sentiment from the also no longer available stamp set called outlined occasions and colored it in with coordinationg markers.
Two days in a row and I have a bad photo. This one is just crooked but you can still get the point. I had this card in my recent card cafe and it was not that popular but I love it and that is all that matters Right? just like yesterday’s post, I used up scraps of the everyday enchantment DSP that is no longer available since the Stampin Up Sale-a-bration is over but you can use whatever scraps you want.
The card uses lot of heart punches: Small heart #117193, Full heart #119883 and the Heart to heart #119881. It also used the new Fashionable hearts embosslit dies #125596 from the occasions mini and only available until April 30th. The postage stamp punch #122344 and the Fresh vintage stamp that is no longer available were combined to make a cute accent. I added the sentiment from the PS Ilove you stamp set #125462and available only until April 30th. The sentiment was layed on the modern label #119849. Lots of detail on this card but it looks great when completed. Since Valentines Day is over I just may swap out the sentiment and use it for Mothers Day.
The homegrown stamp set #120486 was one of my favorites from the Stampin Up IBC but one that I seldom use. Today Cammie used the homegrown stamp set using black and white images and then layered it on top of a black top note #113463 and then onto a crumbcake card base. She finished the card with a piece of crumb cake 1/2 inch seam binding #122332. Love this clean and simple card that I just may go dust off my homegrown set and play.
The design of this card is simple but the super cute dragonfly is what really makes this card pop. Dragonfly body is punched using the word window punch #119857 and then cut in a jagged motion. The wings are made using the primitive heart in the Heart to Heart punch #119881 and then accented with 2 pearls#119247. Triple treat flower is a 3 layer flower stamped with the Triple Treat Flower stamp and then punched using the Fancy Flower #118073 and the 5 Petal flower #119880 punches. The pool party #125582 seam binding is faux pleated to create a whimsical look. The sentiment is from the friendly phrases #126151 stampset in the Stampin Up IBC but could be subsituted with any sentiment to suit any occasion.
Today’s post is the second card featuring the Triple Treat flower A la carte stamp #122909 in Cammie’s card cafe. This card was not as popular among her cafe guest as her other two Triple treat cards but was my personal favorite. For me it was the simple design and the Daffodil Delight 1- 1/4 ” striped ribbon that tickeled my fancy and I knew could be used for almost any occasion. The background is textured using the manhattan flower #114517 embossing folder to create a beautiful and clean looking card.
It is always sad for me to say good bye so as promised here is the link to the retiring Stampin Up stamps http://www.stampinup.com/us/enu/22411.asp . You have until May 31st to decide if you need to add a stamp to your list. Even though I have a whole room full of stamps there are still some that made the list that I don’t have and want (Awash with flowers, Take a seat and Serene Snowflakes to name a few). Take time to look over the list and leave a comment about the set you are sad to see go and if you are like me and have to place an order then let me know.
If you have a set on the retired list and make a card using the stampset send me the jpeg and I will post it on the blog and who knows maybe you will get a surprise in the mail.
The retiring stamp sets list will post on Sunday April 15th; the accessories and Definitely Decorative lists will post on April 25th. You will have until May 31, 2012 to order your favorites before they are gone… I will have the lists for you as they become available.
